Amazon introduces AI voice search on Fire TV devices

Amazon is introducing an AI-powered search feature for Fire TV that might allow Alexa to reply open-ended questions on TV shows and films and supply more specific recommendations tailored to users' preferences.

The feature was announced last September at Amazon's annual device event and relies on a proprietary Large Language Model (LLM). The AI understands natural language and sentences and may answer specific questions like, “What movie does the road 'Life is sort of a box of chocolates' appear in?” (Forrest Gump, by the best way). It may display options based on the actors, characters, genres and themes.

Alexa may suggest titles which can be included in streaming services you already subscribe to, so if you happen to ask Alexa to seek out psychological thrillers with surprise endings, you'll only see the content that's available to you.

The latest feature shall be available in just a few weeks to customers within the US with Fire TV devices running Fire OS 6 or later.

The latest search feature is the newest in Amazon's efforts to bring generative AI-powered features to Fire TV. The company previously launched an AI-powered image generator for creating TV wallpapers, in addition to three Alexa experiences that permit you play games and create songs.
