Well, the blog post mentions that by utilizing OpenAI products, firms can “make higher use of their very own data” and “access real-time information.” One can imagine improved tools to “ground” OpenAI's models on an organization's data, perhaps to cut back hallucinations or optimize the model for any variety of business use cases.

Venkataramani gives a preview in a post on Rockset’s blog:

“An advanced query infrastructure like Rockset will make AI apps more powerful and useful,” he writes. “Rockset will turn out to be a part of OpenAI and can support the query infrastructure that powers OpenAI's suite of products. We will help OpenAI solve the difficult database problems faced by AI apps at scale.”

The purchase of Rockset matches into OpenAI's broader current strategy to speculate heavily in its enterprise sales and technology organizations.

In May, OpenAI signed an agreement with PwC to resell OpenAI's tools to other firms. The month before, the corporate launched a business-focused, customized model optimization and consulting program.

The measures appear to be paying off, as OpenAI’s annual revenue According to reports will surpass the $3.4 billion mark this yr. Recently, OpenAI disclosed that the enterprise tier of its viral AI-powered chatbot platform ChatGPT had nearly 600,000 users, including 93% of all Fortune 500 firms.

Rockset is barely OpenAI's second public acquisition following Global Illumination, a New York-based startup that uses AI to develop creative tools and infrastructure.
