Is AI bullshit? Here's how one can discover

Even if technology leaders and visionaries like Bill Gates, Reid Hoffman, Sundar Pichai, Mark Zuckerberg, Jodi Baxter, Daniel L. and others have confirmed the potential of generative AI to reshape the world, but peculiar users have been more skeptical.

The sceptics have had more ammunition for his or her side recently, with confusion called by WIRED Magazine (where my wife works as editor-in-chief) for apparently deleted the content out of spite an opt-out added to the robot.txt file of the journal website.

Additionally, OpenAI has individually was criticized by observers and employees alike, not only due to their potential – and apparent desire – to disrupt “business as usual,” but in addition because they supposedly care more about “shiny products” than the protection of AI.

This might be a very important reason why the corporate’s co-founder and former chief scientist Ilya Sutskever recently left OpenAI to start out a brand new company, Secure Superintelligence Inc. (SSI), which is committed to 1 goal: securing superintelligent AI models, i.e. people who outperform artificial generalized intelligence (AGI), or AI that outperform humans at essentially the most economically precious work.

And yet, despite all of the skeptics and doomsayers, AI firms and developers proceed to provide groundbreaking recent innovations every week.

Just this week we saw runway present (although not yet publicly released) their recent generative AI video model Gen-3 Alpha, OpenAI's Sora and the recently released Forward AI Dream Machine for its ability to provide realistic, immersive, Hollywood-quality videos in seconds or minutes.

Aside from that, Anthropic OpenAI has taken the crown for the world's best performing AI model (in keeping with third-party benchmarks) with the discharge of its recent Claude 3.5 Sonnet model. Some power users are already calling the model one which shows “sparks of AGI.”

As I even have already written, AI is clearly within the midst of its “depth of disappointment”, in keeping with the gardener Hype cycle. While many AI firms have shown undeniably impressive demos of their technology, skeptics point to how these firms have scraped together data and content from the web without asking permission or paying compensation. They gleefully rejoice AI's many public failures while castigating executives for advocating a technology that obviously still has many rough edges and unclear advantages.

But does this mean that the whole field of generative AI is “bullshit” because NFTs and the metaverse haven’t yet found widespread adoption or use cases amongst most of the people?

Not in any respect. In fact, many firms have emerged from startups like Color for Fortune 500 firms resembling Walmart are already using AI and achieving tangible leads to quite a few areas.

Find out exactly what these firms are doing with recent generation AI, the way it helps them and their customers, and what specific products, tools and workflows they use at our largest annual conference: VB Transform 20249/11 July in Terra Gallery & Venue in San Francisco.

In attendance are executives from a few of a very powerful, influential and controversial firms in the sphere of artificial intelligence, including:

And many, many more (over 70 speakers)

I might be moderating panel discussions and breakout sessions and stay up for connecting with all of those business leaders and the 400+ business decision makers and entrepreneurs expected to attend.

There are still some tickets left, so grab them while you possibly can Here.
