Tabnine wins AI Innovation Award for Best Presentation at VB Transform 2024

Tabnin was voted “Best Presentation” on the Innovation Showcase during VentureBeats Transform last week.

The Tel Aviv-based company offers an AI-powered coding assistant designed to hurry up and simplify software development. It acts as a pair programming tool that integrates directly into a corporation's integrated development environment (IDE) and delivers intelligent code suggestions and completions tailored to every organization's specific context.

At the showcase, Brandon Jung, Vice President of Ecosystem at Tabnine, announced the discharge of Coaching, the flexibility to constrain Tabnine's output to adapt to explicit corporate standards and policies inside the IDE, and the flexibility to detect and routinely adjust pull request deviations.

Jung said during his presentation that the corporate is commonly asked about two foremost issues: trust and control. “Coaching” helps address the latter.

“Of course we're going to introduce some great rules as standard, but it surely's programmable,” Jung said during his presentation. “Any customer can put it in the best way their roles require. Then we’ve the repo. They can have certain rules that they actually need to implement, and people are areas which can be critical to adopt, especially with corporations which have highly secure code or have to deliver very consistent code, like banks, insurance firms, chip manufacturers, and major corporations that see those as requirements.”

The company offers its own AI models and hosts other models on which the Tabnine application can run.

The company launched a new edition of its time-saving application programming interface in June 2022. In February it announced Updates to its assistant, including the combination of retrieval augmented generation (RAG) techniques that allow the platform to make fine-tuned suggestions. In April, the corporate announced a feature that lets users select the underlying large language model (LLM) that powers its chat tool for software development, Tabnine Chat. Development teams can now select from a catalog of models that most closely fits their situation and switch between them at will.

Tabnine has raised $57.1 million to this point, including $25 million from a Series B financing round in November 2023. The company employs 85 people. Competitors include Microsoft's GitHub Copilot, Google Gemini Code Assist and Coedium.

Jung said after his win on the presentation that he was “thrilled since it is validation that the story we tell and that customers love is aligned with VC's view of the following investment horizon.” He added that this confirms that “our worth proposition is differentiated and scalability is critical after we compete against the most important technology company on this planet, Microsoft.”

The Innovation Showcase jury included investors Lisa Yu, Partner at 99VC, Jeremiah Owyang, General Partner at Blitzscaling Ventures, Eugenio Gonzalez, Partner at Plug and Play Ventures, and Tim Tully, Partner at Menlo Ventures.
