GPT When
At the KDDI SUMMIT 2024 in Japan, OpenAI Japan CEO Tadao Nagasaki hinted at the corporate’s next-generation AI model. Hints, whispers, and ambiguous presentation slides appear to point that “GPT Next” will probably be 100x more powerful than GPT-4.
Is it an aspiration, an actual project in progress, a product due for imminent release? Who knows?
At some point, OpenAI hype has to turn into a shippable product to stem the exodus of frustrated ChatGPT Plus users wondering why they’re still paying 20 bucks a month.

Size matters
Besides launching rockets, boring tunnels, making self-driving cars, and running X, Elon Musk has been busy creating the world’s strongest AI training supercomputer.
This week, Musk revealed xAI’s “Colossus,” and, considering what number of NVIDIA H100s they’ve crammed into it, the name is spot on. Colossus reportedly has 4x the compute used to coach GPT-4 and Musk says it’s going to get even larger.
Grok 3 goes to be epic and we would even get to see it released before the tip of 2024.
AI is sort of a box of chocolates
Generative AI is the gift that keeps giving, especially when you’re a scammer. This week Tom Hanks needed to warn his fans that the guy within the videos punting a “wonder drug” was an AI fake regardless that it looked and sounded similar to him.
While Hanks swats back AI scammers, other performers may be improving job security. California is poised to see two latest bills turn into law they usually’ll protect living and dead celebs from being replaced by AI.

Dutch authorities fined it $33m for scraping images of EU residents without their permission they usually might go to extreme lengths to get them to pay.
