Audible, Amazon's audiobook business, announced on Monday that it will use AI trained on the voices of skilled speakers to create recent audiobook recordings.
A select group of audiobook narrators from the US can be invited to coach their voices using AI starting this week, Audible said. The trained AI can be used for recordings and the narrators may have the chance to share their synthetic voice for specific works and edit pronunciation and pacing.
Audible says speakers participating in this system can be compensated for all audiobooks created using their AI voices, on a title-by-title basis and on a royalty-share basis.
