OpenAI is finally rolling out its voice assistant to ChatGPT Plus subscribers, nevertheless it's missing a few of the features the corporate showed off in its original demonstration.
Advanced Voice Mode (AVM) was first demoed in May, but concerns about security and AVM's ability to breed copyrighted content delayed its release. The controversy over one in every of the voices, called “Sky,” sounding rather a lot like Scarlett Johansson probably didn't help either.
In its announcement of the rollout, OpenAI humorously identified the frustratingly long wait time for AVM.
Advanced Voice can be available to all Plus and Team users in ChatGPT App throughout the week.
While you've been waiting patiently, we've added custom instructions, memory, five latest voices, and improved accents.

AVM brings five latest voices, including one with an Australian accent. Fans of the movie Her can be upset to see Sky's voice removed. The latest voices are Arbor, Maple, Sol, Spruce and Vale, making a complete of nine voices.

Another feature not yet available to users is AVM's image processing capability. When OpenAI originally demoed the voice assistant, it could access the phone's camera and reply to image data. AVM currently only has the voice feature.
There isn’t any information on if and when AVM will receive the gift of sight. It could simply be a strategic move to cut back the compute power requirements on OpenAI servers as users are desperate to check out AVM.
However, AVM offers some latest features. AVM stores a user's “custom instructions” for the way the model should speak. You can specify a particular cadence or how you should be addressed. It also allows a user to offer personal background information, allowing AVM to offer more contextual responses.
The “Save” feature allows ChatGPT to recollect conversations for future reference.
Users are already sharing videos about how they use AVM in creative ways.

If you're within the UK, EU or Switzerland, you’ll have to attend some time for AVM to be enabled in your device. OpenAI hasn't specified when the feature will roll out globally.
