Anthropic releases Model Context Protocol to standardize AI data integration

Of course, MCP is currently only a typical for the Claude model family. However, Anthropic has released pre-built MCP servers for Google Drive, Slack, GitHub, Git, Postgres, and Puppeteer.

The company said early adopters of MCP include Block and Apollo, with vendors resembling Zed, Replit, Sourcegraph and Codeium working on AI agents that use MCP to retrieve information from data sources.

All developers excited by MCP can access the protocol via the Claude desktop app immediately after installing the pre-built MCP servers. Companies may construct their very own MCP server using Python or TypeScript.
