Incoming President Donald Trump is considering appointing an “AI czar” within the White House, Axios Reports.
If Trump appoints such a political figure, he can be tasked with helping coordinate federal regulation and state use of AI. It is essential that an AI czar doesn’t need confirmation from the Senate, Axios notes – which means that the federal government's goals could be addressed more quickly.
This can be reportedly the AI czar role, which could find yourself being combined with the White House “crypto czar” role give it some thoughtcan be along with the agency's chief AI officers established under President Joe Biden's AI Executive Order. Trump could, in fact, decide to eliminate these officials (and their positions) in favor of a more top-down governance approach.
No names were submitted for consideration. But Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, the co-heads of the extra-governmental organization DOGE, can have a big influence on who gets the role of AI czar, in keeping with Axios.
