Ryan Beiermeister, who served as vice chairman of product policy at OpenAI, was fired in January after a male colleague accused her of gender discrimination, the Wall Street Journal reports has reported.
“The claim that I discriminated against anyone is totally false,” Beiermeister told the Journal. TechCrunch has reached out to OpenAI for comment and has also contacted an email that appears to be connected to Beiermeister; Neither had responded on the time of publication.
According to the Journal's report, Beiermeister's termination got here after she voiced criticism of a planned ChatGPT feature called “Adult Mode.” The recent mode would introduce eroticism into the chatbot user experience. Fidji Simo, who serves as CEO of Applications at OpenAI – a task that oversees the corporate's consumer-focused products – told According to reporters, the brand new feature will probably be rolled out in the primary quarter of this 12 months.
According to the report, Beiermeister and other company employees have expressed concerns in regards to the impact the brand new “adult” feature may need on certain users.
OpenAI reportedly said that Beiermeister, who was fired after taking a leave of absence, “made beneficial contributions during her time at OpenAI and that her departure was not related to a difficulty she raised while working at the corporate.”
Beiermeister LinkedIn profile says she previously worked on Meta's product team for 4 years and worked for Palantir for greater than seven years.
