Nuwa Pen uses computer vision and motion detection to digitize the words you write on paper

Nuwa pen is a brilliant ballpoint pen that digitizes the words you write on paper as you write.

The pen uses a typical D1 ballpoint pen cartridge coupled with AI, computer vision and motion sensors to digitize every stroke a user writes or doodles on any kind of piece of paper. Nuwa Pen will show the pen this week at CES 2025, the key technology trade show in Las Vegas.

With the general public beta shipping in February 2025, Nuwa Pen said it might help people rediscover the enjoyment of writing without losing the productivity of digital applications, bridging the gap between analog and digital in a way that nobody can other device can.

CES attendees can check out the Nuwa Pen first-hand on Sunday, January fifth at CES Unveiled Las Vegas on the Mandalay Bay Hotel with CES preview media interviews available by appointment on January sixth and January Seventh-Tenth on the Venetian Expo, booth 51272. There are quite a few, well-documented downsides to humanity's screen-obsessed lives: poor REM sleep, reduced creativity, and declining memory. Most people spend eight or more hours a day in front of a pc – often followed by leisure time in front of a screen. However, recent, increasing research extols the advantages of handwriting, which has clear advantages for pondering and learning, helping to enhance literacy and communication skills.

“Writing is probably the most human actions. Many of essentially the most extraordinary ideas and literature in history were handwritten, not typed,” said Marc Tuiner, CEO and founding father of Nuwa Pen, in an announcement. “We have created the world's smartest, most advanced pen that enables people to put in writing, work and take meeting notes without watching a screen. Pen-on-paper lovers get the most effective of each worlds as Nuwa Pen and the free companion app allow users to simply share, search and organize handwritten notes.”

This is how the Nuwa Pen works: Write. Digitize. Synchronize.

Nuwa Pen uses standard D1 ballpoint pen cartridges, while its AI and computer vision cameras track writing and digitize it within the Nuwa+ companion app. The Nuwa+ app organizes the notes right into a digital record and typed text that users can sync with their other productivity apps comparable to email, calendar and contacts.

Digitization, easy transcription and text conversion: Digitize notes from physical to digital text, with the liberty to put in writing on any paper and simply transcribe handwritten notes to typed text with a number of clicks;

Advanced note taking and seamless syncing: Sync Nuwa Pen notes across multiple devices – smartphone, tablet or computer – and permit the author to complement their notes of their calendar, email or contacts apps to integrate handwritten notes into the digital world ;

Search made easy: No more looking through infinite pages of handwritten notes – just enter a keyword to seek out related notes;

Sharing and collaboration: Share and collaborate on Nuwa Pen notes with others.

Write dashboard: Tracks user's writing metrics;

Unlimited cupboard space: Saves creator's notes perpetually;

“Unlike most latest technologies that distance humanity farther from reality, Nuwa Pen takes a daring step back – toward authenticity,” said Tuinier. “Nuwa Pen enables people to put in writing again within the digital world without missing a beat. The way forward for work and creativity will now not revolve around greater screens or immersive glasses. With Nuwa Pen it’s as easy as putting pen to paper.”
