OpenAI's news this week continues: today the corporate announced that it has updated its signature Large Language Model (LLM) chatbot ChatGPT with the power to import files directly from external cloud drives Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive.
The feature is obtainable to paying subscribers of ChatGPT Plus, Team and Enterprise users and will probably be available using the brand new underlying GPT-4o model that OpenAI unveiled on Monday.
Users can find it by clicking on the small paperclip icon to the left of their prompt/text entry bar at the underside of the ChatGPT standard desktop interface.
OpenAI posted an animated video (reposted below) on its blog announcing the update and on its X account that shows how the workflow works if you do that.
You must grant access through your Microsoft OneDrive or Google Drive account to make use of the feature. However, when you've done this, you possibly can select a variety of file types, including spreadsheets, presentations and documents, to import directly into ChatGPT.
Once you've done this, OpenAI has updated the ChatGPT interface, allowing you to view spreadsheet files particularly in a full-screen view and with an interactive interface that shows any changes you make using the underlying AI model in real time. When you're done, it’s also possible to download a duplicate directly from the ChatGPT interface.
As OpenAI writes on its blog, “You can now customize and interact with bar, line, pie, and scatter charts within the conversation.” Hover over chart elements, ask additional questions, or select colours. When you're finished, download it to make use of in presentations or documents.”
For privacy-conscious users, OpenAI notes on its blog: “We don’t train using data from ChatGPT Team and Enterprise customers, and ChatGPT Plus users can opt out of coaching through their data controls” (which can be found within the Settings menu).
While that is ultimately a feature update, it is critical for individuals who use ChatGPT to edit documents and may save users time and provides them more options when using the chatbot.
