Opera's browser offers AI-powered image generation and higher multimedia controls

Opera today announced that it’s releasing the second version of Opera One as a developer beta with features comparable to latest multimedia controls, split tabs, and latest AI features.

The company is introducing latest themes and design elements to offer Opera One R2 a fresh look.

The company has traditionally placed the multimedia controls within the sidebar, but with the new edition, the control could be in its own floating window, identical to the picture-in-picture video module. Opera said it has made sure that the resizable floating controls match the browser theme you set. Depending on the scale, the multimedia player has controls like play/pause, next, previous, pop-out and volume options.

Opera One R2 also brings latest tab controls with the marquee feature of a split tab window, so you’ll be able to work on two web pages directly. Some newer browsers like Arc and SigmaOS have this functionality built into their products.

The redesigned version adds a brand new indicator in the shape of an underline to spotlight a recently closed tab. These indicators, called trails, are light or dark depending on the time that has passed because the tab was closed. They are displayed for users who’ve greater than 30 tabs open.

AI features

Opera has experimented with AI features comparable to a sidebar with its “Aria” assistant, AI-powered summerization, and the power for users to make use of large language models (LLMs) locally.

The company had introduced some features with Aria, comparable to Image and speech generation And Image comprehension skills through its experimental AI feature program. These features can be integrated into Opera One R2.

With the new edition, Opera introduces a page context mode that permits users to ask Aria questions on an online page, including searching, translating or summarizing specific information.
