This week, Gartner published a report This suggests that a few third of generative AI projects in firms can be abandoned after the proof-of-concept phase by the tip of 2025. The reasons for this are varied – poor data quality, inadequate risk controls, rising infrastructure costs, and so forth.
However, one in all the largest obstacles to the adoption of generative AI is the unclear business value, based on the report.
Enterprise-wide adoption of generative AI comes with significant costs, starting from $5 million to a whopping $20 million, Gartner estimates. A straightforward coding assistant costs between $100,000 and $200,000 upfront and ongoing costs of over $550 per user per 12 months, while an AI-powered document search tool can cost $1 million upfront and between $1.3 million and $11 million per user annually, the report says.
These high costs are difficult for firms to bear when the associated advantages are difficult to quantify and will take years to materialise – in the event that they materialise in any respect.

Reinforcement learning from human feedback (RLHF) is the dominant technique for ensuring that generative AI models follow instructions and cling to safety guidelines. However, RLHF requires recruiting large numbers of individuals to judge a model's responses and supply feedback—a time-consuming and expensive process.
OpenAI due to this fact resorts to alternatives.
In a brand new PaperResearchers at OpenAI describe what they call rule-based rewards (RBRs), which use a set of step-by-step rules to judge and guide a model's responses to prompts. RBRs break down desired behavior into specific rules, that are then used to coach a “reward model” that guides the AI - in effect, “teaches” it – learn how to behave and respond in certain situations.
OpenAI claims that models trained with RBR have higher safety performance than those trained with human feedback alone, while reducing the necessity for giant amounts of human feedback data. In fact, the corporate says it has been using RBRs as a part of its safety stack because the launch of GPT-4 and plans to implement RBRs in future models.
Model of the week
Google's DeepMind is making progress in its quest to resolve complex mathematical problems using AI.
Just a few days ago, DeepMind announced that it has trained two AI systems to resolve 4 of the six problems on this 12 months's International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), the distinguished math competition for top schools. DeepMind claims that the AlphaProof and AlphaGeometry 2 (the successor to January's AlphaGeometry) systems have shown an inherent ability for forming and using abstractions and complicated hierarchical planning – all things which were difficult for AI systems previously.
AlphaProof and AlphaGeometry 2 worked together to resolve two algebra problems and one number theory problem. (The two remaining questions on Combinatorics remained unsolved). The results were verified by mathematicians. It is the primary time that AI systems have achieved silver medal-level performance on IMO questions.
There are a number of limitations, nonetheless. It took days for the models to resolve among the problems. And while their reasoning skills are impressive, AlphaProof and AlphaGeometry 2 can't necessarily help with open-ended problems with many possible solutions, versus problems with just one correct answer.
We will see what the following generation brings.

AI startup Stability AI has released a generative AI model that transforms a video of an object into multiple clips that appear like they were shot from different angles.
Called Stable video 4DAccording to Stability, the model could possibly be utilized in game development and video editing in addition to in virtual reality. “We expect firms to adopt our model and further refine it to suit their individual needs,” the corporate said. wrote in a blog post.
To use Stable Video 4D, users upload footage and specify the specified camera angles. After about 40 seconds, the model generates eight videos of 5 frames each (though “optimization” can take one other 25 minutes).
Stability says it’s actively working to refine the model, optimizing it to handle a wider range of real-world videos than the present synthetic datasets it was trained on. “The potential of this technology in creating realistic videos from multiple angles is big and we’re excited to see how it would evolve as research and development continues,” the corporate added.
