Fal.Con 2024: CrowdStrike unveils resilient-by-design framework to strengthen global cybersecurity

CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz opened Fal.Con 2024 with a thanks to customers and partners, saying the corporate couldn’t have survived the events earlier this yr without their help, emphasizing resilience by design, a framework Kurtz introduced during his keynote. In July, a software update the corporate released caused a worldwide IT outage that affected quite a few industries.

“My goal for July 19 was to be as transparent and open as possible about what happened, to own the issue and move forward,” Kurtz told the audience. “And I believe an efficient response can transform an organization. I do know it can transform CrowdStrike, and going beyond CrowdStrike, the precise response can transform a whole industry,” Kurtz noted.

Approximately half-hour after the beginning of the keynote Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella joined via conference call and highlighted the collaboration between Microsoft and CrowdStrike in the course of the recent Security Summit. Nadella explained the importance of secure deployments and the flexibility to adapt Windows as an open platform that supports cybersecurity partners.

Nadella reported on the outcomes of the Security Summit and the way CrowdStrike and other cybersecurity corporations are working with Microsoft. “Can we now have a brand new level of abstraction that permits us to deal with the sensing, the tamper protection and a number of the other things that security innovation needs, right?” Nadella said, referring to one among the various technical discussions on the summit which might be driving security strategy.

CrowdStrike introduces Resilient-by-Design

Kurtz emphasized in his keynote that resilience is greater than just recovering from incidents. “It's not nearly getting back in your feet – it's about staying ahead through a culture of resilience,” Kurtz emphasized in his keynote. Kurtz says the resilience-by-design framework is now a core principle across their entire ecosystem.

“It's about embedding resilience into every node and endpoint and ensuring that each a part of our infrastructure can withstand and adapt to any disruption,” Kurtz explained, noting that ISAC discussions with various industries have highlighted the necessity for continuous learning and adaptation.

“When you consider crowd power and CrowdStrike, it's really like continuous learning, isn't it? We're at all times learning from what's within the environment. We're continually understanding the threat environment and creating that feedback loop so we will keep recuperating,” Kurtz told the audience.

The Resilient by Design framework focuses on three key elements. First, fundamental resilience ensures resilience is embedded in every process and system. Second, adaptability enables CrowdStrike to tailor solutions to the unique security needs of various industries. And finally, continuous learning drives continuous improvement by analyzing evolving threats and customer feedback to remain ahead of future challenges.

Cloud security and strategic acquisitions

A key highlight of the keynote was CrowdStrike’s continued investment in cloud security, driven by recent acquisitions, including Bionic And Data flow security. Both acquisitions provide key components to constructing Falcon Cloud Security, which Kurtz said provides “real-time visibility and protection” and helps customers consolidate technologies for more streamlined cloud operations.

Kurtz also discussed the corporate's updates to Falcon Cloud Security licensing, which allows customers to avoid redundant payments for multiple technologies by allowing them to pick out modules based on their needs.

Flexibility with Falcon Flex and Financial Services

Another necessary announcement at Fal.Con 2024 is the disclosing of CrowdStrike Financial Servicesdesigned to simplify the adoption of the platform through flexible financing solutions. Combined with the Falcon Flex licensing model, this offers a customizable approach for purchasers. Kurtz says Financial Services and Falcon Flex are driven by CrowdStrike customers' desire for more flexibility in adopting and deploying modules, like those offered by hyperscalers.

Falcon Flex is CrowdStrike's licensing model that provides customers flexible access to the corporate's full portfolio of modules. Kurtz explained in the course of the keynote the way it was developed in response to customer feedback. Falcon Flex simplifies the method by allowing corporations to commit to a set dollar amount and provides them pre-negotiated discounts across the platform. Customers can use the modules they need immediately and add more as their needs change.

“Removing complexity doesn't stop with technology. In our mission to forestall security breaches, we’re committed to making sure every point in the safety process runs easily for our customers and partners,” said Kurtz.

“The Falcon Platform consolidates disjointed point products, Falcon Flex gives customers the flexibleness to deploy what they need, after they need it, and now CrowdStrike Financial Services is transforming the financing experience by offering seamless and versatile options for adopting the Falcon Platform.”

CrowdStrike looks toward a collaborative, robust future with Microsoft

Satya Nadella's appearance at Fal.Con 2024 underscored how CrowdStrike and Microsoft's commitment to collaboration and collaboration continues at the event team level. Addressing the audience, Nadella reflected on their partnership, saying, “I'm really happy with how the CrowdStrike team and the Microsoft team got here together in a moment of crisis to support our customers. That's the spirit we want moving forward.”

Kurtz asked Nadella an issue about Fal.Con 2026: “What would success appear to be to you in the following two years?” Nadella responded, “When we're back here in two years, we must always have made tangible progress on the secure deployment practices and kernel mode abstraction layer that we discussed.” Nadella concluded his comment by saying, “It's about ensuring we construct on platforms like Windows and create secure, resilient products that profit all of our customers.”

Creating a culture of resilience is essential

“My promise to our company and to the industry is that CrowdStrike won’t ever stop innovating,” Kurtz said at the top of his keynote. CrowdStrike's Resilient by Design framework, Falcon Flex and CrowdStrike Financial Services show how the corporate continues to pursue a customer-centric focus.

“So it's not about getting back in your feet, it's about really staying ahead through a culture of resilience. It's about greater than just adaptation,” Kurtz emphasized in the course of the keynote. “One of the things we're focused on at CrowdStrike at every level of our organization, at every level of our interconnected ecosystem, and for society as an entire, is to make use of July 19 as a possibility for all of us, not only for CrowdStrike, but for all of us, to come back out of this stronger. That's one among the explanations I desired to introduce 'resilient by design,'” Kurtz emphasized to the Fal.Con audience.
