Spotify's AI playlist feature launches within the US and other markets

Spotify has expanded the provision of its AI Playlist tool within the US, Canada, Ireland and New Zealand, after initially rolling it out to Premium subscribers within the UK and Australia.

The feature, currently in beta on Android and iOS devices, lets users create personalized playlists based on written prompts. For example, users can type in “a romantic playlist for a night at home” and can receive a customized choice of songs to match the mood.

The playlist may be further refined by adding more prompts, and Spotify also offers prompt suggestions. The company recommends mixing genres, moods, artists, and many years to create unique playlists tailored to individual tastes. Additionally, users can further customize their experience by adding locations, animals, movie characters, colours, and even emojis.

According to Spotify, the AI feature is successful within the UK and Australia: subscribers create “hundreds of thousands of playlists that they return to many times,” the corporate writes in a blog post today.

The AI-powered playlist creation tool may be present in the Your Library tab by clicking the plus (+) sign at the highest right of the screen and choosing AI Playlist from the menu next to Playlist and Shuffle. Users can tap the Create button to avoid wasting the playlist to their library.
