Adobe announced today Firefly Services, a set of greater than 20 latest generative and artistic APIs, tools and services. Firefly Services makes a number of the company's AI-powered capabilities from its Creative Cloud tools, corresponding to Photoshop, available to enterprise developers to speed up content creation of their custom workflows – or create entirely latest solutions.
Additionally, today the corporate also launched Custom Models, allowing firms to refine Firefly models based on their assets. Custom models are already built into Adobe's latest GenStudio.
Adobe describes Firefly services as a “comprehensive set of generative AI and artistic APIs that automate workflows.” It includes APIs for removing backgrounds, intelligently cropping images, and robotically leveling the horizon in a photograph, in addition to access to core AI-driven Photoshop features like generative fill and expand. In addition to those AI features, Firefly Services also provides tools for editing text layers, highlighting content, and applying presets from, for instance, Lightroom.
“As consumer expectations for generative AI-driven personalization proceed to rise, Firefly Services and Custom Models are first-of-its-kind offerings that enable brands to have powerful customization and greater control in defining their automation processes,” he said David Wadhwani, President, Digital Media Business, Adobe. “Brands urgently expect Adobe to maneuver their generative AI investments from the playground to production.”
As with most of Adobe's enterprise-focused use cases for generative AI, these latest tools are intended to assist brands speed up their content creation workflows. But while many firms need to use generative AI, also they are concerned about brand safety, which prevents a lot of them from bringing these tools into production. From the start, Adobe has positioned Firefly as a brand-safe alternative to other models, and this latest range of services continues that tradition.
“Increasing customer experience expectations have forced brands to rethink how they produce and personalize marketing content at scale,” said Billy Seabrook, global chief design officer at IBM Consulting. “Adobe applications have played a critical role in our creative process, and now Firefly allows us to quickly create images and templates in a wide range of shapes and sizes to align with brand standards and enable more people to take part in the creative process.”
