OpenAI is introducing a brand new way for users to customize their interactions with ChatGPT, the corporate's AI-powered chatbot.
On Friday, OpenAI announced It introduces a brand new UI for ChatGPT's custom instructions menu, including recent ways to customize the properties of the chatbot. According to OpenAI, the feature will initially roll out on ChatGPT.com and the Windows desktop app, and can even be available for the mobile and macOS desktop apps in the following few weeks.
The recent interface won’t be immediately available to ChatGPT users within the EU, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland, OpenAI said in an announcement tweet on Friday.
Some user on X reported last week that ChatGPT's existing custom instructions menu on the internet has been revamped with recent fields. Now users can specify a preferred name or nickname, their occupation, other things they need ChatGPT to find out about them, and “traits” they need the chatbot to have. OpenAI suggests traits like “talkative,” “encouraging,” and “Gen Z.”
It's necessary to notice that this has nothing to do with ChatGPT's memory feature, which allows users to explicitly tell ChatGPT to recollect something – or forget it. What's somewhat confusing is that ChatGPT “memories” might be personal data – but they can even cover a broader range of conversation-relevant information.

It's likely that the brand new menu is more of an aesthetic overhaul than a deep technical upgrade. The old custom prompt feature used prompt engineering to find out the style and tone of ChatGPT.
